Metal injection molding (MIM) is a manufacturing process used to produce small and intricate metal parts. It combines the design flexibility of plastic injection molding with the strength and conductivity of the metal. In MIM, metal powders are mixed with a thermoplastic binder to form a feedstock, which is then injection molded into a desired shape. The molded parts are then subjected to a debinding process, which removes the binder, and a sintering process, which densifies the metal powder and creates the final metal injection molding part.

MIM is a versatile and cost-effective alternative to traditional metal manufacturing processes, such as machining, stamping, and casting, for small and intricate metal parts. However, it is not suitable for producing large or massive metal parts, as the sintering process can result in dimensional changes and warping.
